What is D&D?
Dungeons & Dragons is a collaborative story game. You describe what your character does, the DM describes the world and what happens next, and dice help decide uncertain outcomes. There's no "right" way to play, try things, ask questions, and be bold.
Your role: decide what your character wants and how they act.
The DM's role: run the world, play everyone else, and keep the story moving.
The dice: add risk, surprise, and tension. Bad rolls don't mean failure, just complications.
The Three Pillars
Exploration
Figuring out what's really going on.
Social Interaction
Talking, negotiating, or intimidating your way through.
Combat
When things turn violent.
None of these are required all the time. How you approach problems is completely up to you.
The Opening Scenario
Trade along a quiet stretch of road has stopped. A small settlement that depends on those caravans is running out of supplies. The locals say goblins have always lived nearby, but they were predictable, skittish, and rarely dangerous. Now caravans vanish. Survivors talk about organized ambushes, strange symbols, and goblins acting with confidence they've never shown before. You are all in or near this place for your own reasons when word spreads: if nothing changes soon, the settlement won't survive the month.
The Party
Abyssal Tiefling. Battle Master. Twin blades. Runs a tight interrogation room.
Gnome. Immediate pick inspired by the 2024 PHB art. The chaos is a feature, not a bug.
Elf. Beast Master. Came looking for an ancient relic. Acquired a very well-fed bird instead.
Elf. Glamour Bard. Leader of the Marquis Players. Will absolutely end a boss fight with a musical number.
